Gundam Universe vs. Blokees Evangelion: Which Action Figure Line Is Right for You?

Quick answer

If you want larger, highly articulated figures for dynamic posing, go with Gundam Universe. If you prefer compact, collectible blind boxes that are easy to display and more budget-friendly, choose Blokees Evangelion. Your choice really comes down to scale, budget, and whether you value articulation or collectibility.

When it comes to mecha action figures, two lines often come up: Gundam Universe and Blokees Evangelion. Both offer exciting ways to bring iconic robots into your collection, but they serve very different purposes. Gundam Universe focuses on larger, articulated figures from the Gundam franchise, while Blokees Evangelion delivers smaller, blind box-style figures of the iconic Evangelion units.

In this comparison, we'll break down the key differences in size, price, articulation, and display appeal. Whether you're a seasoned collector or just starting out, understanding these trade-offs will help you pick the line that fits your needs.

Size and Scale: Big vs. Compact

Gundam Universe figures are known for their larger scale, typically around 6 inches tall. This size makes them great for dynamic poses and shelf presence. They are designed with multiple points of articulation, allowing for dramatic action poses that capture the essence of the Gundam series.

Blokees Evangelion figures, on the other hand, are compact blind box collectibles. They are smaller, often around 3-4 inches, and designed for easy display on desks or shelves. Their size makes them perfect for building a collection without taking up too much space.

Price and Value: Budget Considerations

Price is a major factor for many collectors. Gundam Universe figures typically retail for around $20-$30, reflecting their larger size and articulation. Blokees Evangelion blind boxes are significantly cheaper, often around $10-$15, making them an accessible entry point for new collectors or those on a budget.

However, the lower price of blind boxes comes with the element of randomness. You don't always get the specific figure you want, which can lead to duplicates. Gundam Universe figures, in contrast, are usually sold as specific characters, so you know exactly what you're getting.

Articulation and Playability

If you love posing your figures, articulation is key. Gundam Universe figures are designed with a high degree of articulation, making them ideal for action poses and reenacting scenes. The joints are sturdy and allow for a wide range of movement.

Blokees Evangelion figures, while they may have some basic articulation, are primarily display pieces. Their smaller size and blind box format prioritize collectibility over playability. They are perfect for creating a cute, compact display but may not offer the same posing potential as Gundam Universe.

• Consider how you plan to interact with your figures: dynamic posing or static display.

Display and Collection Appeal

Gundam Universe figures make a bold statement on any shelf. Their size and detail draw attention, making them a centerpiece of a collection. They are ideal for fans of the Gundam franchise who want a high-quality representation of their favorite mobile suits.

Blokees Evangelion figures offer a different kind of appeal. The blind box format adds an element of surprise and collecting fun. They are great for completing a set and can be easily grouped on a desk or in a display case. Their compact size also makes them perfect for office spaces or smaller living areas.

The Trade-Off: Size vs. Surprise

• Gundam Universe – Larger, Articulated, Known: Offers bigger figures with high articulation. You know exactly which character you're getting, making it easier to build a specific collection. Best for those who value posing and display presence.
• Blokees Evangelion – Compact, Collectible, Random: Smaller figures in blind boxes. The randomness adds excitement but can lead to duplicates. More budget-friendly per figure. Best for those who enjoy the thrill of collecting and want a compact display.
• Budget and Space Considerations: Gundam Universe costs more per figure but takes up more shelf space. Blokees Evangelion is cheaper and easier to store, but you may need to buy multiple boxes to complete a set. Assess your budget and available display space before choosing.

If you prefer small, collectible figures that are easy to display, this format is a good indicator of what to expect.
• Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Keepplay Hidden Inventory Chibi Figure Blind Box: Jujutsu Kaisen Hidden Inventory Chibi Blind Box Series relives the iconic arc with adorable chibi figures featuring interchangeable expressions, movable parts, and themed accessories. This shows that blind box figures can offer surprising detail and accessories despite their small size. It highlights the value and creativity that can come with blind box collectibles, similar to what you might find in Blokees Evangelion.
